What is the Kingdom of Heaven's Dominion?
Plain and simple. Let’s explore the word dominion in the context of the Kingdom of Heaven. We are looking at it from a Kingdom of God perspective. God made a declaration of “dominion” in Genesis 1:26.
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule (have dominion) over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
This is the first declaration of mankind’s purpose. For man to understand himself and his purpose this word must be understood. The words rule and dominion have the same root word.
1. From the Hebrew, the idea comes from mamlakah and the Greek basileis. The definitions include “to rule,'“ “reign,” “to master” or “be king.”
2. The term mamlakah also denotes the area and the people that are a part of that “kingdom” (Domin)ion = Domain + Action
3. (King)dom contains the word King. The King is the symbol and glory of that Kingdom.
So mankind was created to be Kings and represent the territory of Heaven on the Earth, to embody all of the resources from heaven and carry everything that comes from heaven (including the nature, culture and character of the heavenly realm).
Mankind is God’s representative on earth.
